Metal Stitching
Precision Metal Stitching and High-Grade Machine Maintenance
EMF WA Provides High-Quality Metal Stitching, Machine Maintenance, and Repair Services for Mining and Other Companies Worldwide.
Metal stitching enables us to repair a fracture or hole permanently without the use of welding. We replace the damaged metal with special stitching pins that allow us to draw the sides of the fracture together through a process of drilling and tapping.
In some cases, we introduce stitch and drill in a precise pattern with special fixtures to reinstate the casting to its original integrity. These stitches are driven in after the custom template is created, which strengthens the repair even further.
The metal-stitched area is gas and moisture-tight. Metal stitching also absorbs compression stresses and disperses the load away from the original point of fracture, while keeping the original surfaces aligned.
The metal stitching method is most often used on cast iron, but it can be used on any machinable metal, including ductile iron, steel, aluminium, and bronze.
If welding has failed, we may be able to remove the damaged area and stitch in a new piece. We use the latest machining equipment and techniques so we can handle challenging projects and repair components with wall thicknesses of up to 300mm.
We can also provide non-destructive testing, high-grade manufacturing, and specialist thread repair.
